The Bethlehem Peace Light
The Church of the Nativity marks the place of the Birth of Jesus Christ
The Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem was built upon the actual physical site where, according to St. Justin Martyr, the Virgin Mary gave birth to the Messiah. The original Church building was constructed in 327, but was later destroyed and then rebuilt on the original site by the Emperor Justinian in 565.
The Nativity Grotto under the Church
The Nativity Grotto is the actual Cave where God was born as a man. An Altar is over the fourteen-pointed Star which marks the place where Mary laid Jesus.
The exact place where Jesus was born is marked by a Star
The fourteen-pointed Star symbolizes the fourteen generations: "So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; and from David until the carrying away into Babylon are fourteen generations; and from the carrying away into Babylon unto Christ are fourteen generations" ( Mt 1:17).
